INTERACTIVE APPLICATIONS
Explore Earth observing missions and the publicly available data they collect through hands-on applications enabled through a touch screen.
See Earth like an Astronaut
This experience provides a quick and fun way to explore NASA’s international Space Station (ISS) Earth photography. Visitors are prompted to draw shapes and lines on a touch screen and the application finds near identical shapes in real astronaut photography of Earth. This interactive was developed in consultation with Google.

A Digital Twin for Earth System Science
Visualize near-real-time weather, climate, and air quality phenomena like precipitation, wind speed, and particulate matter in motion on a 3D interactive globe. Eight day animations of different Earth measures reveal the connections between our planet’s systems.

Monitor the Storms
Interact with current and historical animations of rain and clouds moving across the Earth from NASA’s Global Precipitation Measurement mission. This mission has been collecting data on rain and snowfall from space for more than 20 years, and weather forecasters, farmers, and disaster managers routinely use this data every day.

Explore How Your Hometown is Changing
This interactive display invites users to learn how temperature and precipitation in their hometown are projected to change from 1950 to 2100 under different scenarios. Select your hometown from a global map, adjust time scales, and interact with visual charts that show historical and predicted changes in the future.

Get To Know NASA’s Earth-Observing Satellites
This interactive tool allows users to fly along with NASA’s Earth observing missions in near real-time, view satellite imagery of recent weather events, and monitor current measurements of our planet, including temperature, ground water, atmospheric ozone, and sea level. The kiosk has a touch screen for users to scroll to their location of interest, select a satellite to learn more about a mission, and interact with the 3D globe.
