The latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) used different shared socioeconomic pathways (SSPs) to project sea level rise by 2100 and beyond. The global mean sea level projections show relatively little spread in the next few decades, indicating that a certain amount of sea level rise can be expected regardless of what happens with emissions. Beyond 2050, future emissions become an important driver of the amount of sea level rise we expect to see. The thick lines show the 50th percentile of the projection for each SSP, while the shaded regions indicate the likely range (17th-83rd confidence interval).
